Neoen announces the commissioning of Altiplano 200, a 208 MWp solar park in Argentina

  • With 208 MWp, the Altiplano 200 is Argentina’s second solar power plant
  • The plant enjoys one of the best sun exposures in the world
  • These projects were awarded to Neoen under the Renovar 1 and Renovar 2 calls for tenders and benefit from a guarantee from the World Bank.
  • Fully owned by Neoen, the plant is expected to supply Argentina’s grid with green electricity at a competitive price for the next 20 years

Neoen (ISIN: FR0011675362, Ticker: NEOEN), one of the world’s leading independent producers of exclusively renewable energies and the fastest growing, announces the commissioning of its Altiplano 200 solar power plant. The 208 MWp solar park located in the province of Salta in Argentina rises to 4000 meters above sea level. Neoen is 100% owner of the plant.

Benefiting from one of the best solar exposures in the world, Altiplano will produce 650,000 MWh of green electricity per year, ie the equivalent of the annual electricity consumption of 215,000 people. The power plant is Argentina’s second largest solar farm. The electricity produced will be sold to the national operator CAMMESA under a 20-year purchase contract.

The solar park was born from the merger of the La Puna (107 MWp) and Altiplano (101 MWp) projects awarded to Neoen under the RenovAr 1 and RenovAr 2 calls for tenders and benefits from a guarantee from the World Bank. The plant was built under a turnkey contract by a Franco-Spanish consortium formed by GenSun and TSK, including significant French and Argentinian industrial content. The construction generated more than 450 direct and indirect jobs, the majority of which were filled by people from indigenous communities in the region.

Financing for the plant was provided by Proparco, DEG, ICCF, Société Générale and KfW, the latter two with a buyer credit guarantee from BPIAE, in the form of senior non-recourse debt of $ 211 million.

Emmanuel Pujol, Neoen Regional Director for the Americas, commented: “The commissioning of the Altiplano 200 is a major step in the regional development of Neoen. In a particularly difficult context and despite a delay of several months, Neoen succeeded in completing the ambitious project and honoring its commitments. Relying on the experience acquired as well as on the creativity and resilience deployed by our teams to overcome the obstacles in our way, Neoen is coming out all the stronger to continue our growth in America. “

Xavier Barbaro, CEO of Neoen, concluded: “We are very proud to bring the Altiplano 200 into service in Argentina. I would like to congratulate the Neoen teams involved in the development and realization of this complex project. I would also like to express my gratitude to our lenders, who have enabled this exemplary project to By producing green electricity for the national grid for the next 20 years, we are helping Argentina meet its energy targets renewable. This commissioning shows that as a company, we
